Transportation (In Partnership with City of Galveston)
Additional Island Transportation Resources
Bicycling Galveston Island has so many advantages. Not only are we expanding our system and adding new bike lanes with each major street reconstruction, we have also outfitted our transit buses with bicycle platforms and added additional bicycle racks in numerous places throughout the City. Below is a video discussing the benefits and challenges of biking Galveston Island, and a few tips for riders before the hit the road! To encourage cycling on the island we have events planned for the the month of May, which was formally recognized as Bike Month in the City of Galveston by City Council on April 27th, 2017!

Galveston Island Trolley
While our historic rail trolleys undergo million dollar restorations on each car, four rubber wheel trolleys will be servicing the trolley routes and providing island visitors access from the east end of the island to the west, with numerous stops in between. The trolley buses will service a downtown route that has seven stops through Galveston’s historic downtown, and a seawall route that makes frequent stops from Stewart Beach to Moody Gardens.
The Trolley offers free service this summer from 10am to 10pm daily, with select routes downtown and along the seawall
